HE SHOU WU COOKIES

He Shou Wu was actually the name of a man in the Tang dynasty “whose infertility was supposedly cured,” by this herb. After beginning to use this root his grey hair returned to black and he continued to live on to the ripe old age of 130!  I'm sold, so lets make some tasty cookies with He Shou Wu!
Who or what is He Shou Wu!!?? Its both the name of an adaptogen and a person.  Also known as Fo Ti, this root is renowned for it’s longevity and anti-aging powers. Check out Brianna's recipe below for these grounding, super yummy tonic cookies!

 RECIPE

2 cups gluten free all-purpose flour
1 tsp  baking soda
1/2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1 tablespoon He Shou Wu
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
2/3 cup coconut sugar
1/2 cup blackstrap molasses
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

 METHOD

Preheat oven to 350.  In a bowl combine the dry ingredients, flour, basing soda, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, cardamom + He Shou Wu.
In a separate bowl combine the remaining wet ingredients.  Mix the wet into the dry thoroughly.  Form into a ball and wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Use a spoon to grab the perfect amount of doaugh and roll into balls.  Tip- wet your hands with a little water to keep the dough from sticking to you.  Then smash down each ballt to form a cookie shape and place on a baking sheet. You can bake them as is orrrrrr fancy them up.  I used hemp seeds on some and dark chocolate on others.  I highly reccomend a few chunks of dark chocolate!

Bake for 8-10 minutes, enjoy your life!
