Umh. Okay, slowly remove your mouth from the screen. It saddens me to tell you this but, no, technology has not yet allowed us to taste and smell through our mobile devices. Then and only then will I be impressed by technology, my friends.
These salted caramel brownies are moist without being cake batter, and also have a slight fudgyness (new word) to them. Definitely a brownie recipe I believe you can add to the fam's favourites list.
Be my guest to try them out and prove me wrong.
FULL ON INDULGENCE.
Ingredients(dry)1 cup almond flour 1/2 cup Anandamide (Sun Potion's blend of raw cacao + tonic herbs) 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2/3 cup coconut sugar pinch of salt 2 tsp. maca powder (optional) (wet)1/2 cup coconut oil, melted 2 tbsp. almond butter 3 large eggs 1 egg yolk 2 tsp. instant espresso, dissolved in water 1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)40g dark chocolate, melted (for more intense chocolate and fudgyness) 1 cup chocolate chips and/or chopped raw walnuts "caramel"3 tbsp. almond butter pinch of flaky sea salt honey to taste (or maple syrup) 3 tbsp. almond milk |
MethodPreheat the oven to 356 F / 180 C and line a baking tin with parchment paper. Mix all the dry ingredients together. Melt the coconut oil in a medium bowl, then add the coconut sugar. Whisk until fluffy. Add the vanilla extract, and start whisking in one egg at a time. Lastly add the espresso and almond butter and combine with the rest of the wet ingredients. Once the wet ingredients are combined, add them to the dry ingredients and lightly combine (do not over-mix). Pour the batter into the baking tin and lightly tap the tin on the surface to even it out. Drop a few blotches of caramel on top, then take a toothpick or knife and drag it through to make a swirl. Bake for 40-45 min, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for at least 60 min before removing from the tin to cool completely — believe me, it's worth it. Once completely cooled, slice, add a drizzle of caramel and a pinch of flaky sea salt. Enjoy! |
A note from Sun Potion on our Anandamide...

Anandamide is our love note to you — an unsweetened, raw blend of wildcrafted ingredients, freshly ground spices, and love. It takes its name from anandamide, a compound named in turn for ananda, the Sanskrit word for bliss. The blend is raw cacao with classic Tocos, Ashwagandha, Reishi, Mucuna Pruriens, Maca, rose petals, Moringa, Astragalus, cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne, cardamom, black pepper and Himalayan salt. Made in small batches — an alchemical treat for the mind and heart.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Anandamide?
Sun Potion Anandamide is an unsweetened raw cacao blend with tonic herbs and freshly ground spices. Here it replaces both the cocoa powder and most of the spice in the recipe.
Are these brownies paleo?
Yes, as written — almond flour, coconut sugar and coconut oil, with no grains or refined sugar.
Why add espresso to a brownie?
Coffee deepens cacao without making the brownie taste of coffee. Two teaspoons dissolved in water is enough.
Can I make the caramel without honey?
Maple syrup works in its place. The caramel is just almond butter, sweetener, almond milk and salt whisked smooth.
