Holistic Health Coach Christy Ross has created a stunning açaí bowl featuring adaptogens Mucuna Pruriens and Rhodiola, traditionally valued for supporting balance and vitality. Christy shares how to craft this beautiful marbled bowl—a nourishing morning ritual for staying in.
There are few things as visually appealing and as delicious as an acai bowl. When you hit your local juice or smoothie joint, you may not realize how easy they are to make at home—and how you can make them even more nourishing than the ones you find out and about.
Why? Because smoothies and smoothie bowls are one of the best ways to integrate functional and nutrient-rich foods into your daily routine: vibrant ingredients like ginger and turmeric, and flaxseed, which is naturally rich in beneficial plant compounds.
And then there are adaptogens! In this smoothie bowl, I include Rhodiola* and Mucuna Pruriens. Rhodiola is a root traditionally used to support natural energy, stamina, and resilience. Its adaptogenic properties are valued for helping the body respond to everyday physical and environmental stressors. Mucuna Pruriens has long been appreciated for supporting mood, encouraging balance, and helping to soothe the nervous system.
Try it out, and enjoy the beauty of it, as well as the sense of vitality this colorful bowl can bring!
*If you are looking for a substitution for Rhodiola, try our Lion's Mane or Ashwagandha.
