Cacao has become a daily grounding ritual — I live in a home with two other women so we like to connect and share space with one another every night over cacao. We often times will invite our sisters over for a ceremony. This ritual allows us to slow down, center ourselves and truly open our hearts to whatever we might be carrying with us from that day.
Cacao has been used in ancient ceremonies by South Americans (the Maya) for thousands of years. It contains a compound called theobromine — which can be translated to ‘Food of the Gods’. Although, with its feminine energy activation, it is definitely food of the goddesses. The word cacao actually came from the Maya word Ka’kau, and the Maya word Chokola’j — which means to drink chocolate together. Cacao ceremonies are best enjoyed with soul sisters + brothers, but if you are in need of a self-love ritual, I’d recommend incorporating this into your morning rituals.
Drinking cacao together in a ceremonial sitting has become a centerpiece of our routine — a ritual for self renewal that keeps us centered, connected to our hearts, and clear minded. The addition of Sun Potion's Anandamide in place of pure cacao has truly brought a synergetic flow of more love, deeper connection and creative expression. Alongside deepening our sister connection to one another, we have individually strengthened our connection to our higher self, which has helped us connect to our inner power, strength and truth.
This is a grounding experience for mind, body and spirit. This is a good ritual for anyone seeking to embrace their feminine energy on a deeper level. Learning to open our hearts is the most important thing we can do as human beings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cacao ceremony?
A shared ritual of drinking prepared cacao together, with roots in Maya tradition — the Maya word Chokola’j means to drink chocolate together. It can equally be practised alone as a slow morning or evening ritual.
What is Anandamide?
Anandamide is Sun Potion's Bliss Alchemy blend, built on cacao. It is used here in place of plain cacao powder.
Do I have to make my own cashew milk?
No, but it is worth it — blending the Reishi straight into the milk gives a much smoother result than stirring it into a finished cup.
How long do the cashews need to soak?
Four hours in hot water, or overnight. Rinse until the water runs clear before blending.
