SPROUTED ALMOND MILK HERBAL MOCHA

A gorgeous recipe collaboration by Julia Corbett and Freestyle Kitchen, this mocha is sweetened with a touch of maple and topped with edible borage flowers. This tonic is the perfect potion to nourish your mind and heart and support your mood with the addition of Mucuna Pruriens this summer... As Julia says, she created "this particular drink with adaptogenic herbs to sustain energy, and clear the mind!"

A note from Julia

The intention with any cacao drink I create is to tune into the heart, to bring greater awareness to the central channel bridging the spirit and mind, connect it all through the body, taking in the medicine and drinking with pure presence. While this isn't a ceremonial drink, I love to bring in aspects of ceremony to high vibe elixirs and imbibe with intention. I created this particular drink with adaptogenic herbs to sustain energy, and clear the mind. Mucuna and raw cacao have a nice synergy to balance, lift energy and mood.

Mucuna Pruriens contains 15% L-DOPA, a precursor to Dopamine. Higher levels of Dopamine have been linked with sound sleep and an expanded sense of well-being. Mucuna works to support our brain function and may elevate our mood and senses. Mucuna Pruriens also works to soothe the nervous system and support our overall well-being. The National Institude of Health has recently published more and more studies on Mucuna and its potenial neuro-protective properties. According to one of these recently published articles, "Mucuna Pruriens has been shown to have anti-parkinson and neuroprotective effects, which may be related to its anti-oxidant activity."
