Dear Sun Potion — dear sun potion

Transformational Foods for a Transformational Life

Welcome to the journal - an online, intersectional wellness platform - to connect, educate and inspire our international community.

Hi! I love Sun Potion so much. As a customer over the years, I have watched myself grow so fond of each herb and product (continued below)...

"So much gratitude! But, I wanted to ask about adding ghee to tonics. This is something I have never done before. Could you share a method or example of when to use ghee for tonics?" ... Ohh the wonders of ghee...we love ghee. It is essential in our Prash and in a lot of our tonics. We often share recipes with ghee on our instagram @sunpotion and we also add it to coffee-based potions. Ghee is a great addition to coffee tonics and is a wonderful vehicle for the adaptogens and tonic herbs to digest in the body.  Here is a tonic we love that incorporates ghee... MEDICINAL MUSHROOM MAGIC POTION Lion’s mane. Reishi. Cordyceps. Chaga. Pine Pollen.... blended up with ghee and turmeric(use 1/2 tsp. of each of the adaptogens and a full tbsp. of ghee with desire amount of turmeric) Ghee is a great addition to daily potions!

Is it safe to take several of the tonics mixed together and/or are there some that should be taken separately hours apart. I currently am taking Reishi, Cordyceps, Ashitaba, Chlorella, Pearl and Mucuna Pruriens. Thank you!

Hey there! We love that you're asking! We recommend sticking with up to 5-6 adaptogens a day when you're just beginning. Sometimes, we personally have more than that but we try and listen to our bodies to see what is working best for us. We also recommend that as you increase the number of adaptogens, decrease the serving size just a bit or premise your blend... so maybe instead of a full 1/2 tsp. you try a heaping 1/4 tsp. or prepare a larger blend in a jar of your favorites and have a full tsp. of that. It is really about listening to your body and mind, seeing how you feel and going in that direction/flow. It is certainly safe to have these six in the same day!

Hi when I go on holiday I get a really bad rash on my legs caused by the sun is there anything you can recommend.

YES! SHEA BUTTER. Our unrefined Shea Butter is amazing for after-sun skin care. While it is not a sun screen, it is supportive for redness, rashes and dry skin that may occur after sun exposure. You can take a dime-size amount and warm in your palms and apply to affected areas.  Also, we have a travel size available which is always great to bring along with you.

Hello, I have become a very recent user of Sun Potion products. For about 4 days, I have added Lion's Mane and Cordyceps to my daily routine. I have two quick questions I hope you could help with.... (continued below)

"... I see on the jar and the website it only states the serving size, and a message about consuming these in small, regular doses over a lifetime. So, I was hoping for clarity on whether or not I could/should take more than one serving per day, or if one serving per day is all that is recommended per product? My second question is that I am interested in adding Mucuna Pruriens to the regime, and want to make sure that is ok to take along side the other two, and if it is only a once per day suggested dose as well? I would really appreciate any assistance with these questions! Thank you!" ...THIS is a wonderful question! We are glad you asked. The adaptogens and tonic herbs really support the system when taken in small amounts over a long period of time. Increasing the daily intake is not more potent than having small amounts. In fact, the body reacts well when these are consumed in small doses. Per day, 1/2 teaspoon is recommended although if you consume for some time and listen to your body and feel inclined to have a bit more, you can certainly do so. You can of course add a third/fourth/fifth product to your daily routine and Mucuna Pruriens is a great addition to the others. For example, you could have a morning tonic with 1/2 tsp. of the three, in coffee, tea, water or a blended tonic. I hope this information is helpful and if you have any follow up questions, reach out to us at hello@sunpotion.com

Hello! I’ve been suffering from cystic acne for years. It’s gotten slightly better, but I was wondering if you had a products that would help with my acne. Thank you!

Hi! We would be happy to provide some insight on adaptogens and tonic herbs for skin health, specifically dealing with acne. The list below are some products to check out that may support skin health, acne, radiance and overall well-being. The ones we suggest looking further into are: Ashwagandha - a staple of the Ayurvedic Medicine Cabinet, may be supportive for acne Reishi - a nervous system and immunity tonic that also works to nourish the skin Tocos (Jasmine or Classic) - Rice bran solubles that contain skin-nourishing properties, minerals and Vitamin E  Pine Pollen - may support hormonal acne and skin health White Dragon Matcha - Matcha contains high levels of anti-oxidants and minerals that work to support skin health and aging Ashitaba - A plant material that works to support skin health, reduces cell damage and increases blood circulation to the skin which may support acne Shea Butter - A wonderful (external) unrefined Shea to use for skin health when feeling super dry, to support after-sun skin care, eczema and other skin conditions A tonic to try would be a super-powered White Dragon Matcha potion You can try this recipe here and add any other adaptogens you'd like!

I love your products and want something for a friend who is 65 and is told she has the worst aged tear glands which make her eyes incredibly dry.. And the drops available don't work any more. Thought you might have some suggestion... Thanks in advance

I would be happy to suggest a product that may support eye health and overall well-being for your friend. I recommend Triphala, an Ayurvedic extract comprised of three Indian fruits. This adaptogen is often used to support digestion, but studies also show it may support eye health and nourish them as well. This can be added to warm water or tea, starting with 1/4-1/2 tsp. in the evening. Triphala in a Calendula tea (which also supports dry eyes) would be an extra effort in creating an "eye and vision health" tonic!  Feel free to add a dollop of raw honey or ghee to this tonic.

I'm a busy mum who is suffering from panic attacks.. any particular products you would recommend?

Hi there busy mum, we would love to help you choose some products to support panic attacks, anxiety and stress. There are three adaptogens/tonic herbs that really come to mind here- the first, our Queen Healer mushroom Reishi. Reishi is reputed to support stress, anxiety and the nervous system. It is a great medicinal mushroom to begin with. Additionally, I recommend looking more into He Shou Wu and Ashwagandha*. You could try a tonic with all three or just start with Reishi! *(note, Ashwagandha will be returning to sunpotion.com next week) If you do begin to add one of these tonic herbs/adaptogens to your routine, and have any specific questions- please reach out to us at hello@sunpotion.com

Hi there! I recently received my blood work and I’m very low testosterone and progesterone. I’m 34, female and have been seemingly exhausted lately. Any advice or elixirs would be much appreciate :)

Hi! I would be happy to recommend some products for you to support healthy hormone levels. I would look at: Green Adaptogen, Pine Pollen and Ashwagandha. You can combine these all or just start with one! Pine Pollen may be the best starting point, or Yin Power is an option too which contains Pine Pollen and other hormone supportive adaptogens. You can add one or more of these to coffee, tea, a blended tonic and h20. Hope this is helpful for you!

Hi there. I'm currently suffering from high anxiety, depression and very sluggish digestion. Do you happen to suggest any particular elixirs that can assist?

We would love to point you the direction for adaptogens and tonic herbs that may support anxiety, stress and digestion.  The products to look closer at: Reishi (for anxiety and stress levels) He Shou Wu (nervous system tonic) Mucuna Pruriens (for mood support) Triphala (for digestion) Moringa (for digestion)   You could make a morning tonic with Mucuna Pruriens and He Shou Wu and/or Moringa - simply can add 1/2 tsp. of each to coffee, tea, a blended tonic or warm water For an evening tonic you can try: 1/2 tsp. Triphala 1/2 tsp. Reishi Add to a calming tea like chamomile or just warm water with some raw honey

I’m a full time student, full time nanny and am working through a break-up (yikes). What do you recommend for brain health? Or a mood enhancer/ brain fog clearer?

Hey there! You are busy, wow! We know this can be a rough moment. Let us help you through it as much as we can...with tonic herbs! For mood, we love including Mucuna Pruriens into our tonics. It contains 15% L-Dopa, a direct precursor to dopamine so that is really amazing for supporting mood and mental clarity! You can also try our bliss alchemy blend, Anandamide which contains Reishi and Mucuna Pruriens, wonderful adaptogens for brain fog, mood and supporting overall well-being. Another great product to try for brain health, cognitive function and immune support is Lion's Mane! Try this: make some coffee or tea in the am, and add 1/2 tsp. Mucuna and Reishi to your tonic OR make it a little more exciting and warm up a plant based milk on the stove and add 1-2 tbsp. of Anandamide and 1/2 tsp. Lion's Mane to your simmering milk and a dollop of raw honey and enjoy a cosmic, adaptogenic cacao elixir.
